Fred McClintock as a Guide

"McClintock, 59, was inducted into the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame as a Legendary Guide in 2002."

"McClintock's portrait is mounted on a monument in the Legendary Guides room at the NFWF Hall of Fame in Hayward, Wisconsin."

"McClintock, has been featured in countless newspaper articles and more than sixty times in Bassmaster and IN-Fisherman magazines"

Smallmouth

"We (he and his clients) caught and released 42 smallmouth," he said. "It's the best fishing I've seen in 16 years."

Muskie

"Muskie fishing is becoming increasingly popular as anglers try their luck landing one of the big, toothy monsters...made a trip earlier this month to Dale Hollow to muskie fish with guide Fred McClintock, one of the country's best...was a christmas present from his son...Dale Hollow is a big, deep, clear lake that straddles the Kentucky and Tennessee border. It contains big muskies, and they are natural..." Source: Perry County News

Stripers

A fishing editor suggested we try striper fishing on the Cumberland river...he told us to get a guide named Fred McClintock to take us after some real stripers...got a 29-pounder, a 19 pounder, a 39 pounder and a 13 pounder... we book the guide years in advance because he is so busy...Source: Marion Cronicle-Tribune

"When McClintock started guiding for Stripers on the Cumberland River in the 1980s, he noticed that the really big stripers acted just like Muskies and would follow your bait to the boat but wouldn't bite in such clear water.

Fred invented the planner board methods for Muskies in the 70's and then applied the same techniques to the striper in the cumberland river in the 80's.

The methods were so effective that they have produced two verified Tennessee state records and one unverified Kentucky state record. These striper methods are now being used all over the country." Souce: Lake-Times News

Trout

"I've fished with guys who've been everywhere--Montana, Utah, Wyoming, the whole works. They all say they've never seen trout like the trout that's in here....It took several minutes before I could net the 21-inch-plus brown trout. I have never seen trout the size we pulled from the Cumberland." Source: Chattanoog Times Free Press

"Cumberland River holds secret...Big Kentucky trout are ample in the cool waters...a treasure trove full of rainbows and browns. In the Cumberland River you rarely find those little 8-inch stocker trout fresh from the hatchery. Instead you'll more often find trout with big, broad bodies and wide sweeping tails. I first discovered the Cumberland River last November. That's when fishing guide Fred McClintock introduced me to the jaw-dropping trout of south central Kentucky. "You can catch'em like this just about anytime of the year."

If there is one compelling feature about the Cumberland in July it is fog", I feel like I've been in the twilight zone all day long." Kentuckians protect their Cumberland brown trout well. There is a minmum 20-inch size limit on brown trout. The strict limit no doubt helped produce the 21-pound state record. But if you ask me about Kentucky's Cumberland River I'll say, "Shhhh, it's a secret!" Source: Times Free Press

Cumberland River Fly Fishing is as good as any fly fishing I have seen in the USA
